Summary
The Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas (Las Palmas Real Club de Golf) founded in 1891 is the oldest golf course in Spain. It is located 15 minutes from the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, on the edge of the Caldera de Bandama (volcano) with wonderful views of the center of Gran Canaria. Many people today refer to the field as Bandama. It was designed by MacKenzie Ross. In addition to the 18 holes, it has practical facilities including 2 putting greens and 1 pitching green. A horse riding area with 50 horses and 5 paddocks has also been dedicated.
Design
The course is a par 71 and measures 6,636 meters long. The shortest hole on the course is a par 3 hole 3, 146 meters long. If you are not up for a good day of exercise, it is recommended to use a buggy in this very hilly and winding countryside.
Our favorite hole
Hole 14 is a par with Index 1. As the index indicates, this hole is the most difficult of the entire course and is very well established. There is a tree on the left side of the street 235 meters away and the dog legs to the left. If you can play to the left of the tree the hole will be much shorter, but then you run the risk of out-of-bounds internals that will extend up to 100 yards from the green. A great hole!
